Again, a big thank you to everyone who came out to race at our season closer. The First George Glessman Memorial Regatta at Salt Springs Valley Reservoir. We had a good turn out with around 67 entries per day. Even with the rain falling on Saturday. We had several racers and family who really stepped up the the plate to volunteer their time and effort making a great weekend and season of racing.

The Nor-Cal 400 class saw several new drivers try their hand in real race boat competition. Thanks to the hard work of all involved, we have some real talent joining our ranks. Now we just need a few volunteer's to help transport the Nor-Cal fleet next year and give those who've been doing it a bit of a break. The best thing you can do as a club member is share the load.

As the season winds down it's time to get ready for the annual elections and awards banquet.

See you at the races,

Denice Morris

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF SCORER

For starters lets look at registration.

  1. Have your memberships, club and APBA, current before your first race.  Saves time at registration
  2. IF POSSIBLE, PRE-REGISTER ON LINE.
  3. Drivers!  You are aware of what categories, classes you will be participating in so make sure you are registered accordingly with APBA.  Don’t expect the scorers to bring this to your attention.  It is your responsibility.
  4. Before you attend your first race make it a point of getting into the habit of completing an entry blank or pre-enter for every race.   Then all you have to do at the race site is pay and sign the waiver release form.  Again this saves tons of time at registration, also allows the chief scorer to enter all information into the computer before coming to the race.
  5. If you must complete an entry blank at the race site, please do not expect the scorer to finish filling out the form for you.  Many times the drivers fill out these forms in a hurry and leave date and race site blank.  From now on if the entry forms are not totally completed they will go into APBA that way and the possibility of not getting your points for that week-end is there.
  6. When you come to registration please have your check filled out or try to have the correct monies ready along with completed entry form by the time you approach the scorer.
  7. Do not mill around the registration area needlessly it is a very busy area.
  8. Pens are always provided for your use, do not reach for the scorer’s pens please!!!  Keep in mind the scorer is very busy and she needs her pens.
  9. You will be asked to fill out a supplemental information form this is in case of an incident we need as much information as possible on you.
  10. A very important reminder is please be sure you and your crew, family, friends and any one else in and around your pit area signs the waiver and release form.  If in the case of minors, have both parents sign the minor waiver and release form, no exceptions.  If a minor comes to the boat race with a friend or relative other than the parents he/she will not be allowed in the pit area and no pit pass will be given to that child.
  1. Another topic I would like to cover is that of too many bodies coming up to judges stand and getting in the way of the workers.  They occupy chairs get in front of the scorers and visit all this is very distracting and the workers can’t do their job.
  1. Drivers you must pay attention to the membership fees.  Additional categories are higher than last year, so be sure that you sign up for additional categories at the time you renew your APBA membership or you will pay more at the race site.  Stock, Mod, and Pro have the option of purchasing a Super license that covers all three categories.  You never know when you will be needed to drive another boat to make a class in another category and so its best to be prepared ahead of time.

Future EBBC meeting recaps will be posted here in the clubs online magazine. We hope this informative convenience doesn't stop members from actually coming out and taking part. Participation is key to the future success of club racing as we know and love it. Plus, who would want to miss an evening of camaraderie with your fellow boat racers?
