RACE REPORT:

The 45ss champion, Richard Warren, jumped-out early from the pole to

lead the entire race.  The real action was the intense race for 2nd thru

4th place.  David Johnson (2nd) never got more than a boat length or so

ahead of either Dean Wilson (3rd) or R.J. West (4th).  The spectators

were treated to constant blasting in & out of roostertails, lane changes

for position and passing through lap traffic as the trio diced around

the 35 second circuit.  A close race for 5th was taken by Joey Johnson.

The 20 lap main was cut short on lap 14 following a snap-roll by Bob

Peterson in turn 4.

The west coast season concludes with events at Pleasanton, CA on Oct.

10-11, 1998 and the SST45 North American Championships at Bakersfield,

CA on Oct. 24-25, 1998.
