2002 International Motorboat Stars Dual Meet

October 2-7, 2002

Heyuan China

 

The race was on the Xinfeng River in Heyuan about 200 kilometers from Hong Kong. Walk ways and bridges provided excellent viewing for up to 100,000 spectators.

Starting procedure: boats are sitting with their skeg on the dock.

When the red light goes out the engines are started. They are lifted up by the exhaust pipe.

The Jet Ski teams from Japan and China kept the spectators entertained between races.

The awards ceremony  was a very special affair with all the top city officials present.
