Three Windmills joined the "fast" open monohulls for three races today in light and shifty breezes that gave us a couple of opportunities to sit on the rail and even lean out a bit. Each of us took one 'Mill for 'Mill race - Darrell took the first race, despite a crunched aft starboard panel when a large and unruly scow escaped its skipper in the general launching mayhem. Scott was last, his excuse being that he was 12
minutes late to the start because he was instructing crew - Cori Ladd - and didn't think the wind would come up anyhow. Tony took the second race after tagging Scott around the course and catching a fortunate breeze at the finish while Scott and Cori got buried in the bad air from other finishing boats. Scott took the last race, and in the end, Windmill wise, it was Scott 3-2-1, Darrell 1-3-3-, and Tony 2-1-2.
Oh yeah, unbelievably another scow on port tack rammed Darrell during the milling around before the start of the second race. So now he has an asymmetrical set of crunches. Fortunately he is a master of plywood fabrication and finishing.
