8/27/03 Because the boat was built with plastic resin glue (the brown stuff you mix with water) and over the years the glue has dried up and not much of it was holding. The boat is being taken down to its frame. This boat will be used, not just a display piece. In this photo frame gussets are being replaced. Frames 3, 4 & 5 will also need additional repairs.

Four bottom battens needed replacing.

Repairs are made to the transom.

The deck battens are removed, cleaned up and refastened with epoxy glue.

New engine stringers have been installed.

The work on the framework of the boat is done and ready for skins.

The sides are added.

The bottom is on the boat.

Next the customer will take the hull to varnish the interior and install internal hardware. After that boat will come back to the shop for its sponsons and deck.

Two coats of epoxy and several coats of varnish on the interior.

Sponsons are added

The sponson deck is "ribbon grain" Kahya plywood

Installing the deck clamp.

Now for motor mounts & other under the deck goodies

The Modified Ford V8 installed. Still need the exhaust system and fuel tank.

Scott Courts picking his boat up from Sorensen Woodcraft on May16, 04. Now he will be doing the finish work and installing the remainder of the hardware.

Bob Myers is restoring a 1972 DeSilva B Stock Runabout

We will follow his progress in his boat project for this winter.

Darrell.......I started working on this thing, so I lightened it up a bit. A bit worse than I thought, but I think I can save it. You've probably given away better boats than this.......Bob

In the background is Bob's "Arrow" 13' runabout that he built a few years ago.

Some of Bob's motor collection in the background. He has a nice Mercury 20-H conversion to run on the DeSilva.

There was rot in the transom, so most of it had to be replaced.

New transom in place.

Just about ready for new skins.

Sides are on, next will be the chines & bottom. But right now Dec. 18th the weather is too nice. Been snow skiing & bicycling.

Darrell.......Here's where I'm at, a few coats of varnish on the inside, then I'll put the deck on. 12-30

The woodwork is done. Now comes the finishing.

Just about ready to hit the water.

A race boat is not complete without racing numbers.
