Windmill Class Association
District 8
California & Nevada
We had 3 Windmills at Richmond for the Sail a Small Boat Day
and Saturday and last round of the Mid-Winters on Sunday. At first Scott and
Armand were busy taking people for rides with Darrell's boat on shore as
display. Later boat was launched and Darrell took his son Rod, who hadn't been
in a Windmill for a ride. After which Scott took Rod out in Darrell's boat so
Scott could evaluate its setup and give Rod additional instruction. This gave
Darrell some time to hop in some other boats such as a Flying Dutchman with way
too many control lines. An El Toro, just for the fun of it. And last an
International 14 just as the wind died to almost nothing. Sort of like getting
in a F1 race car with no fuel. Sunday was also warm and sunny, winds were light.
Just after the start of the 3rd race the wind completely went away. This was the
calm be for the storm. After a long paddle and 2/3s of the way back to the
harbor we had the strongest winds of the weekend. All in all it was a good
weekend with Windmills getting a lot of exposure. Looking forward go going back
next year.
